About my work

My artwork is related to nature in several ways.I use natural materials as I find them in outdoor places, such as plants wood, seeds, fruits, earth, clay with traces of erosion  by sun, water, wind, fire and with traces of human use. On the other hand I also use in contrast to these artificial material such as polyurethan foam, mirrors aluminum foil. I create objects either just with natural materials or mixed with artificial ones. In addition I develop temporal interventions and installations in close relationship to certain places as a special kind of land art. Some of these works remain in special arranged pictures or videos as moving images. Others I do transfer from photography into linocut prints, printed with a 100 years old press, each edited in different color versions.

My land art works are mostly one man works without using heavy machines or big tools. In a close dialog to the chosen places draft and realization are related to the specific topography and atmosphere of the location. The process of making is very important for my kind of working. Often it takes a lot of time. It is a sensitive reaction and a meditative activity during the working procedure, dealing with collecting, building and finding structures. The results are archetypical forms and symbols, combined with traditional crafts and technological skills. In a specific way I use old media as natural and artificial materials and new media as digital photo and video. In a kind of retransformation I render images of works into the classical technique if linocut.

In general my work is dealing with basic experiences concerning to nature: Growing, being, vanishing.

Since 2014 I am going to focus my interest and strategies on the typical landmark of Salzburg, the mountain Unterberg with installations, prints, ink drawings, photos and videos.
